9 Tool Philosophy
Baseball measures players by five tools: hitting for average, hitting for power, speed, fielding and arm strength. Those tools identify talent, but they don’t make a complete player. Our nine-tool model adds four more. These are the habits and skills that show up in big moments, in practice when no one is watching, and in how a player handles success and failure. Everything we do is built around all nine tools, from practices and evaluations to roster decisions.
